Discover Healing Support
When You Miss a Loved One

How do I know if grief counseling is right for me?

  • Some wonder if they can survive in the world without their spouse, partner, parent, child or friend.
  • Some come for support because they want to know what is "normal" in grief.
  • Some come when their world feels shattered and out of control.
  • Some come when tragedy strikes suddenly through suicide, homicide or fatal accidents.
  • Some come because they need someone to listen.
  • Others come with questions.  What did it mean to have this person in your life?  What does it mean for the rest of your life?  How can you find happiness in the future while remembering your loved one?

Participating in grief education classes and individual or group counseling enhances the healing process. While no two people grieve in exactly the same way, for many survivors, a crucial part of healing is the support and sense of connection they feel through sharing their grief with others. Hospice of Hilo’s Bereavement programs provide a safe place to share experience and find support to cope with loss.

Free grief counseling, support and education is available for anyone grieving or anticipating the death of a loved one.  To schedule an individual appointment, please call (808) 969-1733 or email hospice@hospiceofhilo.org.
